The handing over ceremony of the collection was attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy, besides senior officials from both ministries.
The capital’s prestigious National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) will be the new home to Air India’s priceless “Maharaja Collection” of artwork. The National Gallery of Modern Art of M/o Culture will house the precious collection ‘Maharaja Collection’ of Air India artworks. An MoU was signed for handing over the artworks to NGMA at the NGMA premises in New Delhi today.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Steel and Shri G. Kishan Reddy, Union Minister of Culture. The MoU was signed by Joint Secretary, M/o Culture Smt. Mugdha Sinha and Joint Secretary, M/o Civil Aviation Shri Satyendra Kumar Mishra; Director NGMA Smt Temsunaro Tripathi, Air India Asset Holding Limited (AIAHL) CMD Shri Vikram Dev Dutt and representative of Air India Ltd Ms Kalpana Rao. Secretary, Civil Aviation Shri Rajiv Bansal and Secretary, Culture Shri Govind Mohan were also present on the occasion.
The NGMA, a famous Organisation for modern and contemporary artworks, will now serve as the repository for the entire collection of Air India after this MoU was inked at an event here. Legendary artists such as M F Hussain, Laxman Pai, V S Gaitonde, Sayed Haider Raza, Jatin Das, V Prabha, Shankar Palsikar , and Anjolie Ela Menon are among those whose works are featured in the airline’s cherished collections. Air India gave away free tickets to budding artists over the first eight decades of its commercial operations, which began in 1932. These artists went on to become well-known figures in the art world.
