Opposition parties are getting the call of holding the upcoming Lok Sabha elections ahead of time. They are considering the speed in the activities of the Election Commission and the preparations of the ruling BJP as a sign of this. West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar have publicly expressed this possibility. Whereas, SP and Congress are making their preparations internally keeping this in mind.

Can the Lok Sabha elections be held ahead of time: BJP's nomination is not linked to the alliance, Congress-SP started preparations

The Election Commission of India sent a letter to the Uttar Pradesh government in April to provide a list of 100 officers for the assembly elections of the four states to be held later this year. With this, discussions about early Lok Sabha elections started going on in the bureaucracy. The reasoning behind this is that a list of officers was sought long ago. Secondly, their number is also more than before. Please tell here that by the end of this year, assembly elections are to be held in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Telangana.

After this, on May 26, under a letter from the Election Commission of India, between June 6 and June 16, officers were trained as master trainers in Uttar Pradesh. The leadership of the opposition parties also drew the implications of this training programme. This letter was issued from the Election Commission of India, so the leaders of other states also started brainstorming. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the BJP wants to hold the Lok Sabha elections before time, so it has intensified lobbying among other communities. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said in a meeting of his officers that efforts should be made to complete the projects soon, as there is every possibility of announcing the Lok Sabha elections ahead of time.

Commission in a hurry regarding preparations

According to highly placed sources of the Election Commission of India, 40-50 lakh personnel have to be trained for the Lok Sabha elections, so preparations usually start a year in advance. This time from April-May, 2023 itself, the commission has started showing speed regarding these preparations.

April-May, 2024 Election Scheduled Time

In the year 2019, the code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections came into force on 10 March. Elections were held in seven phases between 11 April and 12 May 2019 and the results came on 23 May. Accordingly, the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will have to be held in the year 2024 in April-May.

Moving forward keeping the possibilities in mind

Pramod Tiwari, deputy leader of the Congress in the Rajya Sabha, says that the circumstances are telling that the BJP can hold the Lok Sabha elections ahead of time. Keeping this in mind, we are moving ahead.

Government in preparation for holding Lok Sabha elections with states

SP leader Udayveer Singh says that the BJP is not feeling good about its position in the four state elections later this year. There India’s constituents are very strong. That’s why BJP does not want to go to the Lok Sabha elections after losing four states and fearing this, it is planning to hold Lok Sabha elections along with the states.
