Red alert issued in Raigarh
The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains for the next three days and has issued a red alert for this. At the same time, a total of 6,968 people from 2,040 families have been shifted to safer places to avoid any tragedy, while 534 people from 177 families have opted to stay with their relatives.

He further said that out of 1,863 families, 6,434 people have been kept in 51 camps. 128 people from 31 families of Alibaug are also included in this. Also, 285 people from Pen, 825 people from 236 families of Khalapur and 2,810 people from Mahad have been shifted.

Rivers flowing below the danger mark
The official said that Raigad district received 162.3 mm of rain in the last 24 hours and this monsoon has received 67 per cent of the annual average. All the six rivers of the district, Savitri (Mahad), Amba (Roha), Kudalika (Roha), Patalganga (Khalapur), Ulhas (Karjat) and Garhi (Panvel) are currently flowing below the danger level.

More than 50 houses destroyed due to rain
Incidentally, the state government this week sanctioned Rs 3.95 crore for the rehabilitation of Karnale and Sakhar Sutar Wadi villages in Poladput taluka, where a landslide killed 11 people two years ago, said a district official. The official said that 56 houses have been destroyed and 336 houses have suffered partial damage in the district due to heavy rains in the last few months.
