Manipur: Former army chief said- Foreign agencies behind the conflict in Manipur, it is not good for the security of the country
Former Army Chief General MM Naravane has not ruled out the role of foreign agencies in the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur. He has said that the situation of instability in any border state is not good for national security. Speaking about the ongoing conflict in Manipur, the former army chief said, “Internal security is very important. If there is instability in our neighboring country or in our border state, that instability is not good for our overall national security. China has been helping various rebel groups for years
The former army chief said, “Definitely instability does not help us in building overall national security and involvement of foreign agencies in such matters cannot be ruled out, rather I would say it definitely is. Ensuring national security is the responsibility of every citizen
According to former Army Chief General MM Naravane, India has no ‘extra territorial ambition’. Speaking during an event on July 28, the former army chief said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure national security. Addressing a session on ‘National Security Perspectives’ organized by the India International Center in the national capital, the former army chief underlined both the internal and external security dimensions.
Apart from national security, food, energy and health security of the country is also important.
On national security, General Naravane said, “When we talk about national security, we should pay attention to the internal security dimension. On the other hand, if we talk about external security, it is definitely a matter of paramount importance.” He said, “The security of the country is the responsibility of every citizen of the country. Everyone has to play their part. National security is much more than just external security, it has many dimensions. Apart from national security, the country’s food, energy and health Security is also paramount. He said, “If you don’t have a healthy population, where will the manpower for the armed forces come from? So national security has to be seen and understood in a much broader context.”
Instability in border states or neighboring countries will affect our security
General Naravane said that India still does not have a completely clear national security strategy, “We have made some progress on this front in the last few years. Our activities reflect how we are looking at national security. He said That the country’s foreign policy rests on two strong pillars. One of them is that we have no extra-territorial ambitions. The second is that we do not want to impose a way of life or will on anyone else. This is not my way. I think these two factors also guide us as far as our national security is concerned. Responding to a question about securing the country’s northern borders, he said, “Our overall security includes regional and global Environment has an important role. Any instability in any of our neighboring countries will affect our security. “More instability on our borders will lead to increase in international crimes like smuggling, drug trafficking,” he said.
