The merciless face of the policemen of Pakad Chowki in Chowk Kotwali area of Shahjahanpur has come to the fore. Nand Kumar, a Scheduled Caste resident of Mohalla Roshanganj, who deals in meat, was mercilessly beaten up by the police personnel after bringing him to the outpost. He was subjected to third degree torture. In protest, on Tuesday, people surrounded the Pakad outpost and created a ruckus. The incident took place on July 23 at 8.30 am. Nandkumar reached Wazirganj’s nephew Tarachandra’s shop with meat. That’s why the soldier of Pakad Chowki reached there without uniform. The constable caught him and took him to the post.

Nandkumar told that the beating started by raising his hands. He was mercilessly thrashed. The lower part of his body turned black due to the beating. It is alleged that the constable also took away Rs 13,000 kept in his shop. Nephew Tarachandra alleges that the police released Nandkumar after taking Rs 20,000.
people angry for not taking action
The victim went to the police station and gave a complaint, but the police stopped them. Nandkumar was admitted to the Government Medical College. After this, an application was given to the SP on Monday. Even then, people got angry on Tuesday when no action was taken against the policemen. They planned to jam the chakka near Wazirganj. Kotwal KB Singh reached after getting the information on the opportune moment.

He pacified everyone by assuring that justice would be done, but after some time the crowd surrounded the Pakad post. Everyone created ruckus demanding suspension of the SI and policemen by filing a report. The police pacified everyone by assuring them of action.

In the evening, on the report of SP City Sudhir Jaiswal, the SP suspended outpost in-charge sub-inspector Dinesh Chandra, constable Rishipal Atri and Sumit Saini.

After the matter caught fire, SP City Sudhir Jaiswal started the investigation of the matter. He reached the hospital and recorded the statement of the victim. He gave his report to the SP.

SP City Sudhir Jaiswal told that on the complaint of Nand Kumar opening a shop and selling meat, the constable had brought it to the post. After investigation, the outpost in-charge and two constables have been suspended.

After the beating of Nandkumar, the political temperature rose against the police. SP’s district president Tanveer Khan reached the hospital and inquired about Nand Kumar’s condition. He consoled the family members, as well as talked to the SP on the phone and demanded action against the guilty policemen. Ranu Khan, Harshit Verma, Ravi Prakash Pandey etc. were with him.

Congress delegation met Nand Kumar under the leadership of District President Rajneesh Gupta. Rajneesh suspended the police personnel and demanded a departmental inquiry into the matter, a case under the SCST Act. State Secretary Anoop Verma, Metropolitan President Pawan Singh, Furkan Ahmed Qureshi, Gangaram Katheria, Farman Khan etc. were present.
