Survey for five and a half hours, then the ‘Supreme’ order came and the campaign of ASI stopped, what happened during this?
Gyanvapi Case: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) started surveying the rest of the Gyanvapi complex from 7 am on Monday morning, except the seal box. The eastern, western, northern and southern walls of the building were measured with the Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) for about five and a half hours. Photographs and videography of the walls were done. Samples of soil and brick and stone were collected from near the foundation of the building.

Meanwhile, it came to know that the Supreme Court has stayed the survey till 5 pm on Wednesday (26 July). After this, the ASI team went out of the Gyanvapi campus along with the DM, the divisional commissioner and the plaintiff side. Earlier, the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid Committee had boycotted the survey. No representative from the Masajid Committee had reached Gyanvapi campus.
No excavation was done on the first day
From 7 am to 12.30 pm, the team stayed in the Gyanvapi campus. Four litigants of the Hindu side and their advocates who came out of the Gyanvapi premises made it clear that no excavation had been done on the first day. The ASI team inspected every corner of the existing building for almost two hours. Saw the seal warehouse from afar.
All around photographs were taken and videos were shot. The videographer and photographer were from the ASI as well as from the administration. On the other hand, in this regard, Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma told that the ASI stopped the survey work as soon as the order of the Supreme Court came to know. Now after five o’clock on Wednesday evening, the ASI will take further decision in this regard only with the court’s order.
District Judge’s court has asked for survey report by August 4
The court of District Judge Dr. Ajay Krishna Vishwesh had ordered the ASI on July 21 to survey the Gyanvapi premises, except the seal warehouse, and submit the report by August 4. In this sequence, a 43-member team of ASI experts from Lucknow, Agra, Delhi, Patna and Varanasi reached Gate No. 4 of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham on Monday at 6:30 am.
Four teams of experts surveyed in four different directions
The ASI team had reached in front of gate number four of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham under police protection at 6:30 am itself. After some time the gate opened, then the experts and their equipment were checked. Then, under police protection, he was sent to the Gyanvapi campus. Four teams of experts kept watching the building for about two hours in four different directions. After this the work of survey started. The focus of the team remained on the western wall of the building for the longest time. The Hindu side has always been saying that the door of Maa Shringar Gauri’s temple opens from this side.
The atmosphere of commotion since morning
Regarding the survey of ASI, there was a lot of commotion in the area around the Gyanvapi campus from Monday morning itself. On the third Monday of Sawan, the people who came to worship Baba Vishwanath after knowing about the survey in the Gyanvapi campus started proclaiming Har Har Mahadev. Circle Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma, Commissioner of Police Mutha Ashok Jain and DM S. Along with Rajalingam, top officers of the police-administration were present in Kashi Vishwanath Dham. DCP Security Suryakant Tripathi and ADM Protocol Bachchu Singh were in the Gyanvapi campus along with the ASI team.
The future of ASI survey depends on the order of the High Court
Following the order of the Supreme Court, the Masjid Committee may file a petition in the Allahabad High Court on Tuesday regarding the stay on the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi complex. The Supreme Court has asked the High Court to pass its order on the Gyanvapi survey before 5 pm on 26th July. Now the future of ASI survey of Gyanvapi campus seems to hinge on the High Court’s order.
Muslim side misled Supreme Court
Here, Vishnu Shankar Jain, representing the Hindu side, said that the Supreme Court has put a stay on the district court’s order on the survey of Gyanvapi campus and asked the Allahabad court to decide the matter afresh. We will put our argument in the High Court. The Muslim side Anjuman Intejamia Masajid Committee misled the Supreme Court and said that excavation has started there, which is not true.
