Yamuna is in spate in Mathura: water released from Okhla barrage, people in panic due to flood threat
Due to the release of 2.7 cusecs of water from the Okhla Barrage of Tirthanagari Mathura in the Yamuna on Monday afternoon towards Mathura, there is a possibility of further increase in the danger in the next two days. There is a possibility of this water reaching on Tuesday night. Due to this, the water level of Yamuna will increase further. Seeing this, the administration has been alerted. At the same time, the concern of the people living in the villages and Khadar area on the banks of the river has increased.

At Prayag Ghat in Mathura, the Yamuna’s water level was recorded at 165.90 meters at 4 pm, which is just 10 cm less than the danger mark. On the other hand, the water released from Tajewala is also likely to reach Mathura by Wednesday. In such a situation, people living in Khadar areas have started preparing to take their belongings to safer places.
In the last 24 hours, the water level of Yamuna has increased by just one centimeter. Where the Yamuna was flowing at 165.89 meters at four o’clock on Sunday, on Monday it reached 165.90 metres. Here, a possibility is being expressed that 2.51 lakh cusecs of water was released from Tajewala on Saturday. Whereas, 70 thousand cusecs of water was released from Gokul barrage to Agra.
Seeing the threat of flood, people started leaving their homes
In view of the threat of flood, the people of the colonies of Khadar area have once again started moving from their homes to safer places. After Sunday, people continued to move towards safer places even on Monday.
Relief camps arranged
The administration is busy in repairing the arrangements in the flood relief camps. The administration has already been alerted regarding any kind of apprehension.
