What is Yuge Yugeen India National Museum?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated to the nation the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Center (IECC) complex at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. Meanwhile, the PM announced the ‘Yuge-Yugeen Bharat National Museum’. Actually, this name is derived from Sanskrit language, which means ‘eternal or eternal India’. On the occasion of International Museum Day (May 18), Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a virtual walk-through of this museum at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. According to officials, the National Museum of Yuge Yugeen Bharat will be spread over 1.17 lakh square meters. This three-storey museum will have 950 rooms. Apart from this there will be a basement.
Yuge Yugeen Bharat National Museum will showcase India’s rich civilization and culture of more than 5,000 years. Visitors will be able to see exhibits on Indian art, architecture, music, dance, literature and philosophy. The museum will also showcase India’s contribution to science, technology and mathematics. It will be a special place for anyone interested in knowing about the rich history and culture of India.
Will be able to see glimpses of history
This walk-through includes India’s ancient town planning system, Vedas, Upanishads, Ancient Medical Knowledge, Maurya to Gupta Empire, Vijayanagara Empire, Mughal Empire, Colonial rule (when Dutch, British, Portuguese and others had come to India) and the rule of many other dynasties were mentioned.
The collections of the National Museum will be transferred
A senior official had earlier said that the artefacts and other collections of the National Museum at Janpath would now be kept in this museum. According to the Union Minister of State for Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi, the existing National Museum will be made a sub building of the Duty Path itself. The foundation stone of the present, National Museum building was laid on May 12, 1955 by the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
