Amrit Bharat Station: PM Modi launches Amrit Bharat Station scheme, 508 stations in the country will be renovated
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme through video conference. He laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 railway stations across India under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. On this occasion, the PM said that India is taking steps towards the goal of development. He is at the beginning of his immortality. There is new energy, there is new inspiration, there are new resolutions. In this light, today a new chapter is starting in the history of Indian Railways.
He further said that today the eyes of the whole world are on India. India’s credibility has increased at the global level. The attitude of the world towards the country has changed. Now there is an effort to provide a better experience from train to station.
Let us tell you, for this scheme of renovation of 508 stations across the country, the program will be organized at the stations. Union ministers, MPs and MLAs of the area will be present in this. Railway officials will reiterate the commitment of the Central Government to realize the dream of New India. This grand program will be broadcast live on these stations. The way people listen to the mind of the Prime Minister, in the same way, by installing big screens at the station, people will be aware of the complete plan of the Railways.
According to Shobhan Choudhary, General Manager of Northern Railway, it is one of the largest and busiest railway networks in the world, connecting thousands of cities and towns in the country and providing an important means of transport to millions of people. The process of modernization of Indian Railways is going on for the last nine years. Under this, efforts are being made to improve infrastructure, technology and passenger facilities. This ambitious plan includes a wide range of activities such as refurbishing railway stations, laying new railway lines, 100 per cent electrification and enhancing the safety of passengers and assets.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate ‘Amrit Bharat Station Yojana’ across India with the launch of redevelopment works of 508 stations, out of which 71 railway stations are in the Northern Railway zone. In view of this, Railways will organize programs in Delhi Cantt, Delhi Sabzi Mandi and Narela.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said in a statement that the cost of this redevelopment project will be Rs 24,470 crore and it will provide modern facilities to the passengers. The railway stations for which the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for redevelopment include 55 each in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, 49 in Bihar, 44 in Maharashtra, 37 in West Bengal, 34 in Madhya Pradesh, 32 in Assam, 25 in Odisha, 22 in Punjab, 21-21 stations in Gujarat and Telangana, 20 in Jharkhand, 18-18 in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, 15 in Haryana and 13 in Karnataka are included.
Giving priority to world class facilities
The PMO said Prime Minister Narendra Modi often stresses on the provision of state-of-the-art public transport and railways is the preferred mode of transport for people. He has given priority to the importance of providing world class facilities at railway stations. With this approach, ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ was started for the redevelopment of 1,309 stations. Under the plan, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 508 stations.
Will be developed as city center
The PMO said, under this, master plans are being prepared to develop these stations as ‘city centers’ with proper integration of both the sides of the city. This integrated approach is inspired by the city’s holistic approach to overall urban development, centered around the railway station.
