Jammu and Kashmir on the path of development after Article 370: Government
Significantly, on the occasion of the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370, the government on Saturday highlighted that this historic decision has ushered in peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha had said in Srinagar that the biggest change after the removal of the Article is that the common people of Jammu and Kashmir are living life as per their wish.

Congress accused of suppression
Countering this, Chidambaram said that the government and the LG of Jammu and Kashmir are celebrating the peace that has come in the state (now a union territory) after the abrogation of Article 37. He asked that if there is so much peace in Jammu and Kashmir, then why has the government put Mehbooba Mufti under house arrest? Also why the offices of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and National Conference have been sealed? He alleged that freedom is being suppressed all over India, but the most severe repression has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir.

Saturday was the fourth anniversary
Let us tell you, the BJP celebrated the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 during a public meeting in Srinagar on Saturday. During this, the leaders said that after the abrogation of Article 370 after the decision of August 5, 2019, there is a period of unprecedented stability in Jammu and Kashmir. Life in the area has returned to normal after three decades of turmoil. There is steady progress in the state. Schools, colleges and other public institutions are working efficiently in three years. Stone pelting has become a thing of the past. Now the people of the valley also have the rights that the people of other provinces of the country have.

this is the case
On August 5, 2019, the Center decided to take away the special status from the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcate it into two Union Territories. Several petitions challenging the Centre’s decision to abrogate Article 370 and provisions of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 were referred to a constitution bench in 2019. The Center had argued that the historic constitutional move being challenged has brought unprecedented development, progress, security and stability in the region, which was not often the case during the old Article 370 regime.
