A woman has been arrested in Kerala for attempting to murder a friend’s wife, who had entered the hospital posing as a nurse to kill another woman. The incident happened at a hospital in Parumala in Kerala where 24-year-old Sneha was admitted for post-delivery care.

Police said on Saturday that Anusha, a friend of the victim’s husband, has been arrested. On Friday, the accused woman entered Sneha’s room posing as a nurse and told her that one more injection would have to be given.

Police said that he tried twice to inject air into the victim’s vein using an empty syringe, but failed. When she tried again, Sneha’s mother became suspicious and informed the nursing staff.

The hospital authorities caught the accused woman on the spot and handed her over to the police. Along with this, the health condition of the victim has been said to be stable. Anusha’s sister and victim’s husband were classmates. The victim’s husband is currently abroad. Right now further investigation of this matter is going on.

With his release, five of the 16 accused arrested in the case are now out on bail. One of the 16 accused – Jesuit priest Stan Swamy – died in July 2021 at a private hospital here while in judicial custody. Earlier in the day, a lawyer associated with the case said that a special court hearing cases related to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday issued an order for his release.

An SC bench of Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia granted him bail, noting that merely possessing some literature through which violent acts can be propagated would not invoke the provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act .
