Union Home Minister Amit Shah has responded to the allegations of the opposition on the bill presented in the Lok Sabha regarding the rights of Delhi. In the Lok Sabha on Thursday, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Delhi is not a full-fledged state, nor is it a union territory or an assembly. Delhi has a historical background. There are provisions in the Constitution that allow the Center to make laws for Delhi.

Shah’s reply to the opposition
In the Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Shah replied in detail to the allegations of the opposition. The Home Minister said, “Questions have also been raised on the competence of the Parliament under the Constitution. Some members said that it has been brought in violation of the Supreme Court’s order. So I would tell them that you have not studied the Supreme Court’s order.” The opposition parliaments have read the order according to their wish.

Right to make law in SC verdict: Shah
Amit Shah told the Lok Sabha, ‘Para 86,95 and 164 of the Supreme Court’s judgment clearly states that under 239AA, the House has full right to make laws for Delhi. The ordinance refers to the Supreme Court’s order, which says that Parliament has the right to make laws on any issue relating to the National Capital Territory of Delhi. ,

The Home Minister further said, “I would like to draw the attention of the opposition to 239AA (3B). Under 239AA (3B), this Parliament is empowered to make laws on any matter relating to the Union Territory of Delhi or any part thereof. has full right.”

Nehru was not in favor of giving full statehood to Delhi: Shah
Speaking on the bill, Amit Shah said that ‘after independence, the Pattabhi Sitaramaiya committee had recommended giving state level status to Delhi. In the House, leaders like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Rajaji, Rajendra Prasad and Dr. Ambedkar opposed it and said that it would not be appropriate to give full statehood to Delhi. ,

Shah also put forward the subject of a discussion of Pandit Nehru in front of the house. Home Minister Shah told the Lok Sabha, ‘Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru had even said in the House that since three-fourth of the property in Delhi belongs to the Central Government. Therefore, it would be logical to keep it under the Centre. ,

The Home Minister said, ‘Later Ambedkar ji had said while concluding- We feel that as the capital of India, any administration can be given free rights here. ‘ Amit Shah said, ‘The bill which can be opposed today, they should know that it was the recommendation of Pandit Nehru. ,
