Monsoon has returned once again in UP. On Wednesday morning, there was heavy rain in the surrounding districts including the capital Lucknow. Waterlogged conditions were seen on the roads. Wednesday morning brought respite for the people of the capital, who have been facing extreme heat for almost a month. People’s eyes opened amid the torrential rain. The rain that started early in the morning continued till ten o’clock in the morning. About 16 mm of rain has been recorded till 8.30 am in the Regional Meteorological Center.

On the one hand, the rain gave relief from the heat, but till 10 o’clock in the city, traffic became difficult due to waterlogging at various places. There was a jam and due to the rain which was providing relief from the heat, the jam became a disaster. People could not get out due to water filling in many colonies. The mohallas situated in the low-lying areas were completely waterlogged. Due to the rain, children had to face problems in reaching school in the morning.

It rained in other districts as well

There is news of rain not only in the capital Lucknow but in many areas of the state. 18.2 mm of rain was recorded in Ballia, 17 mm in Barabanki, 16 mm in Chitrakoot and 28 mm in Rae Bareilly. Rain has also been recorded in other areas including Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Prayagraj, Kushinagar, Varanasi.

According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Regional Meteorological Center, an area of intense pressure has formed in the Bay of North East Bengal. Due to this, there are indications of increasing activity of monsoon in the southern regions of the state. There are chances of good rains in the Vindhya and Bundelkhand regions of the state during the next two-three days. Light to moderate rain may occur in most parts of the state. Rainfall is expected to increase in the Terai districts from August 5.
