West Bengal: Calcutta High Court dismisses PILs filed in Duttpukur blast case
The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday dismissed two PILs filed in connection with the explosion in the illegal firecracker factory at Duttpukur in North 24 Parganas district. In these, a demand was made to register a case under the Explosive Substances Act. In fact, on August 27, nine people were killed in an explosion in an illegal firecracker factory.

The court found that the petitions were filed ahead of time. A division bench headed by Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam said that the petitioners have to allow the investigation to be completed, and if they have any grievances thereafter, it would be appropriate for them to present them before the appropriate forum. One of the petitioners was Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the BJP.
Deputy Solicitor General Bilwadal Bhattacharya, appearing for the NIA, said that a team of officials from the agency visited the site and found that the provisions of the Explosive Substances Act have not been incorporated in the FIR. He said that the provisions of the Fire Safety Act have been included in the FIR.
