Scientist Dr. Manjit of Agriculture and Meteorological Center Shikohpur said that this year Gurugram has received 239.5 mm of rainfall in the month of June, which is 82.5 percent more than the average rainfall of the last 30 years. With the arrival of monsoon in Haryana in the month of July, rainfall in July was recorded at 165.0 mm, which is 6.85 percent more than the average rainfall of last 30 years. At mean sea level, the western end of the monsoon trough runs close to the foothills of the Himalayas and the eastern end lies south of its normal position.

The western end of the monsoon trough is likely to move south from August 3. The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places and light/moderate rainfall at most places over North Haryana and at a few places over South Haryana on August 3, 4 and 5. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and thundershowers on August 3 and 5 for Gurugram.
