Now former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun has made a big claim regarding Mohammed Shami. Bharat Arun said that star fast bowler Mohammed Shami had expressed his desire to retire from cricket after failing to pass the fitness test before the tour of England in 2018, Arun revealed that when he came to know that Shami was in a bad mood So he took him to the then head coach of India, Ravi Shastri.
Due to fitness problem, Shami did not get a place in the Indian team in the tour of England and he had decided that now he will retire from this game. Due to injury, Shami did not participate in many important matches. When Shami did not get a place in the Indian team in the tour of England, he spoke to the former bowling coach of the team, Bharat Arun and said that he wanted to quit cricket due to personal problems.
Talking about cricket, Bharat Arun said about Shami, ‘Just before the tour of England in 2018, we had organized a fitness test in which Shami failed. He did not get a place in the Indian team. He called me and said he wanted to talk to me. He was battling personal problems at that time. This was also seen in his fitness and his mental form was also completely gone.
Bharat Arun further said, ‘Ravi Shatri told Shami that it is a good thing that you are angry. It is the best thing that has happened to you because you have the ball in your hands. Your fitness is bad. Whatever anger you have, take it out on yourself. We are going to send you to the National Cricket Academy and want you to go there for 4 weeks and stay there. You will not go home and only go to NCA..It also suited Shami as he had problems in going to Kolkata. Then he spent 5 weeks in NCA.
After spending 5 weeks at NCA, Shami regained his fitness and returned for India’s England series. Even though India lost that series 4-1 but Shami took 16 wickets in this series. He was the second highest wicket taker after Ishant Sharma.
