Additional Commissioner of Police Rajesh Raghuvanshi said that the woman, identified as Sonu Mansuri, later confessed in her statement to the police that a lawyer had asked her to make a video and send it to the Islamic organization PFI. The woman also told the police that she was given three lakh rupees for this work. The police have also claimed to have recovered Rs 3 lakh from the woman. Raghuvanshi said, “Further investigation is on and Sonu is being questioned to extract more details about his links with PFI. He added that action will also be taken against advocate Noorjehan Khan if concrete evidence is found.

Significantly, in September 2022, the central government banned the PFI and several of its affiliates for five years under the stringent anti-terror law, accusing them of having links with global terror groups like ISIS and trying to spread communal hatred in the country.
